Currently, Murray has no preservation policy in place. In 2019, Murray City Council abolished the preservation code for the Murray City Center District. That code had been a revision of a sensitive and thoughtful code put into place by the City Council in 2005 for what the Council called the Downtown Historic District. Currently, developers and homeowners can demolish, add on, or do anything to their property within the zoning restrictions that they desire, regardless of what neighborhood they live in, or how it affects neighbors and adjacent property values.
