“I was in 6th grade when my mother died. My whole school class from the old Arlington (Central) School came to the funeral. It was at the old Murray First Ward. My Dad was a volunteer fireman and when they brought the casket out to take down the long stairs outside, all the county firemen in their uniforms stood at attention at the bottom of the stairs. We later moved further east on Vine Street but I kept coming back to the Murray First Ward because that was where my friends and memories were.”
